Peter V. Brett came to my aid when I needed him most.
How did he do that? Beyond being a badass storyteller and giving me something awesome to read while going through cancer treatment, he also contributed the short story Mudboy to Unfettered, the anthology that helped pay off my medical debt from said disease.
Peat always intended Mudboy to be the opening first act of a much larger story centering on a new Demon Cycle character named Briar. Well, he has written that completed story! It is titled Messenger’s Legacy and it will be published by Subterranean Press in November 2014!
I will have a small quantity of these books. They will be signed in January. So first come, first ordered! Also, for you fans of limited editions, Subterranean Press is also putting together a $45.00 limited edition of the book! Click to HERE to read about that!
A new Demon Cycle novella! Cannot wait for it!
Messenger’s Legacy by Peter V. Brett
Out of stock
Humanity has been brought to the brink of extinction. Each night, the world is overrun by demons—bloodthirsty creatures of nightmare that have been hunting the surface for over 300 years. A scant few hamlets and half-starved city-states are all that remain of a once proud civilization, and it is only by hiding behind wards, ancient symbols with the power to repel the demons, that they survive. A handful of Messengers brave the night to keep the lines of communication open between the increasingly isolated populace.
Briar Damaj is a boy of six in the small village of Bogton. Half Krasian, the village children call him Mudboy for his dark skin. When tragedy strikes, Briar decides the town is better off without him, fleeing into the bog with nothing but his wits and a bit of herb lore to protect him.
After twenty years, Ragen Messenger has agreed to retire and pass on his route to his protégé, Arlen Bales. But for all that he’s earned the rest, he has no idea what to do with the rest of his life. When he learns Briar, the son of an old friend, is missing, Ragen is willing to risk any danger to bring him safely home.
Messenger’s Legacy will be amply illustrated by Lauren K. Cannon. The edition on The Signed Page is the trade hardcover edition of the book.
NOTE: Peat’s signings are always large affairs. Copies of this will go fast just like those copies of Brayan’s Gold and The Great Bazaar. Look at the secondary market for those two other novellas. They are not cheap!
