Summary:
Seven years after the conclusion of the High Druid of Shannara trilogy, New York Times bestselling author Terry Brooks at last revisits one of the most popular eras in the legendary epic fantasy series that has spellbound readers for more than three decades.
When the world was young, and its name was Faerie, the power of magic ruled—and the Elfstones warded the race of Elves and their lands, keeping evil at bay. But when an Elven girl fell hopelessly in love with a Darkling boy of the Void, he carried away more than her heart.
Thousands of years later, tumultuous times are upon the world now known as the Four Lands. Users of magic are in conflict with proponents of science. Elves have distanced their society from the other races. The dwindling Druid order and its teachings are threatened with extinction. A sinister politician has used treachery and murder to rise as prime minister of the mighty Federation. Meanwhile, poring through a long-forgotten diary, the young Druid Aphenglow Elessedil has stumbled upon the secret account of an Elven girl’s heartbreak and the shocking truth about the vanished Elfstones. But never has a little knowledge been so very dangerous—as Aphenglow quickly learns when she’s set upon by assassins.
Yet there can be no turning back from the road to which fate has steered her. For whoever captures the Elfstones and their untold powers will surely hold the advantage in the devastating clash to come. But Aphenglow and her allies—Druids, Elves, and humans alike—remember the monstrous history of the Demon War, and they know that the Four Lands will never survive another reign of darkness. But whether they themselves can survive the attempt to stem that tide is another question entirely.
“[Terry Brooks is] the most important fantasy writer since J.R.R. Tolkien.”—Rocky Mountain News

I have become a huge fan over the years – enjoying every book that Terry Brooks has written. What a fascinating and wonderous world of adventure he takes you through!
I noticed Terry will be in Austin, Tx . Would he ever concider coming to San Antonio ? I just ordered a signed copy of Wards and looking forward to reading it, but to meet the man behind the world of Shannara would really be a highlight.
Terry has been to San Antonio in the past. I’m going to tell you something right now though. Make the drive to Austin. It’s not that far and this might be Terry’s last tour through Texas — ever — as he is seriously considering not touring anymore.
Well Shawn talked the wife into going to Austin to meet Terry told her it could be my birthday present being it’s on the 27th. On another note I want to commend u for the work u do, and the strenght u show in ur battle with cancer. See my 6 yr old daughter was diagnosed last aug with T-cell Lymphoma and seeing what she has gone through has made a better person. I commend u SIR and I hope that things are going well for u and that the treatment u are recieving has u in remission.
Thanks for the info Shawn.
I own quite a few Terry Brooks books. I counted 29 in my library. The first book was found in a NYC bookstore in the late 70′s that was in the bargain section. It was the original Sword of Shannara for (price tag is still on it) $1.29. 10 years ago I turned 50 and ordered a signed copy of the Trilogy for a birthday present. This year I was hoping to make it to Cincinnati and meet Terry but our plans fell through. I just ordered a signed copy today for my 60th birthday of Wards of Faerie. Hopefully one day I will get to meet Terry if he ever makes it to the NYC NJ area.
Hi, I was hoping to find out if Terry Brooks will ever be able to come around the Topeka Ks area or in Kansas at all? My husband is such a huge fan and we arent able to travel very far.. Thank you so much!!
Terry can make suggestions but the publisher decides where he goes. To do your part, go to the Del Rey website and write them an email asking for Terry to tour Kansas. It won’t be for March 2013 but might work for August 2013. Good luck!
Thank you very much, I appreciate that!
I just wanted to thank you for all you do to make these wonderful books available to us. I remember when I could have bought a signed first addition Sword of Shannera in the 70′s for $18….!!! I still kick myself for passing that up but I young and broke
Love Terry’s books and am always looking forward to the next adventure.
thanks again, Shawn and hope you are feeling better.
Best,
Donna
Thanks, Donna!
What edition and print?
Everyone on the website is a first edition / first printing unless otherwise noted.
I’m italian. I had the pleasure to meet Terry in Padova, Italy, in 2003 when he toured throughout my country to promote Jarka Ruus. He was amazingly kind and I keep that fond memory in my heart (I also took a picture together and it’s lovely
). I remember he was quite surprised when I presented him the Sword of Shannara US omnibus for him to sign. By the way Jarka Russ is his only book to ever have been first published in Italy in advance with respect to the US release. So the Italian edition is a FIRST THUS.
I do not have hopes to meet him again. However it is sad to hear that he’s planning to quit touring. It’s a sign of time passing…
Terry Brooks started me on the world of reading in 1988 I live in Germany then and was in my early 20, since then have never put his books down, and now at the age of 45 still find the thrill in reading each of his book’s and always looking forward to the next book. My thanks to Terry Brooks for taking me to the worlds of reading he has made in his books over the years. Before his book’s never dream i would become a person who would reads books.
