New Signings: Hobb, Kay, Wendig

A little bit of news to share with all of you!

I am now accepting pre-orders for signed copies of Assassin’s Apprentice: The Illustrated Edition by Robin Hobb, A Brightness Long Ago by Guy Gavriel Kay, and Wanderers by Chuck Wendig! These are the kinds of books that speak for themselves. I shouldn’t have to sell it very hard for you to order them.

Assassin’s Apprentice is one of the most important books in genre’s history, a book beloved by millions including George R. R. Martin. Hobb has always been a wonderful storyteller and this is the book that started it all. It is also the first time a trade hardcover of Fitz’s first book is publishing in the US. And it’s illustrated! Can’t recommend this one enough.

A Brightness Long Ago continues Guy Gavriel Kay’s amazing career in new, dazzling ways. He is one of my favorite writers, able to blend beautiful prose alongside great character development. And his worldbuilding is top notch. Guy takes his time writing novels — several years between publications. It means he publishes at the highest quality imaginable and you can start almost anywhere in his bibliography. I haven’t read this one yet but I can’t wait for it. A Kay book is always one to celebrate — especially signed!

And finally, Mr. Wendig. Chuck is one of my favorite people. He writes really diverse novels, with excellent characters. But this book — Wanderers — is going to be his breakout book. It’s fantastic. It is also 800 pages and it is already getting accolades and great reviews. And not only that, but Hollywood just optioned the book last week. Definitely worth your time for this one, folks!

There you have it. Some great new books! I’d recommend not ordering Assassin’s Apprentice with anything else since it doesn’t publish until October. But the Kay and Wendig books are publishing close enough to one another that saving on shipping by combining books makes sense.

I’m going to try to fly to NYC this week to see Donato for that Middle-Earth book! Pictures and more details coming soon on that front!

Hope you are reading something great!

  1. Hi! I am very excited about the signed Assassin’s Apprentice, but I’m curious if the book will be signed, or if a signed bookplate will be added – could you please let me know?

    1. Robin Hobb lives about 20 miles from me. She signs at my home. So no bookplates.

  2. Awesome! Will there be an option for those of us in the UK to order any of these signed editions via Quill and Claw? Many thanks.

    1. There are no plans for this, no.

      1. Okay, thanks!

  3. I’m so excited about a new Kay book and for him to come here! I’m sorry, this is my first time learning of your signings, so I’m a bit unclear how it works. Will I be able to see him signing on the 17th, or does he just do the signing and I get the book later? If the former, what time will it be? Thanks!

    1. He just does the signing and I ship the book after that. Sometimes we do a Facebook Live depending on time. We’ll see. Still don’t have a firm time for signing yet.

  4. Hi! Any way i could order a signed copy of Assassins apprentice to Sweden? I doubt Margaret will ever come here for a signing 😉

    1. Yes, I ship internationally. But you pay the shipping costs, which tend to be outrageous.

  5. Are we able to get Robin Hobb’s book in the UK?

    1. Yup! I ship internationally.

  6. This is my absolute Favorite series!! That is saying something too cause I am very picky. Hobb perfectly achieved the most important element to a story. Characters that you are completely emotionally invested in. You will love the good guys like close family and you will hate the villains to the point you will scream at the book. Everyone needs to read the entirety of the Realm of the Elderlings!

  7. Hi,

I’ve not bought a signed copy of a book before. Will they be written out to the buyer or will it just be Robins signature?

    Thanks

    1. It will be Robin’s signature unless you ordered a personalized copy.

      1. How do you order a personalised copy? thanks

        1. Some books only have 100 personalizations available. When they sell out, the personalization box disappears. Which book are you interested in?

  8. I pre-ordered Assassin’s Apprentice yesterday. This will be signed? I see where it says only so many personalizations are available – but didn’t see anything about that when I ordered. Thanks!

    1. Yes. All of the books on this website are signed directly by their author. 🙂

  9. I am so excited for the Assassin’s Apprentice, i am getting it for my husband for our 30th anniversary, that is one of our favorite series to read and reread together
