Signed Copies of Spoonbenders Available

The Signed Page has received 12 copies of Spoonbenders signed by author Daryl Gregory!

Any of you like Arrested Development? Terry Pratchett? And the like? Spoonbenders will be right up your alley. “A skillfully written family drama that employs quirk and magic with grace.” — Kirkus Starred Review

Here is more about it:

Teddy Telemachus is a charming con man with a gift for sleight of hand and some shady underground associates. In need of cash, he tricks his way into a classified government study about telekinesis and its possible role in intelligence gathering. There he meets Maureen McKinnon, and it’s not just her piercing blue eyes that leave Teddy forever charmed, but her mind—Maureen is a genuine psychic of immense and mysterious power. After a whirlwind courtship, they marry, have three gifted children, and become the Amazing Telemachus Family, performing astounding feats across the country. Irene is a human lie detector. Frankie can move objects with his mind. And Buddy, the youngest, can see the future. Then one night tragedy leaves the family shattered.

Decades later, the Telemachuses are not so amazing. Irene is a single mom whose ear for truth makes it hard to hold down a job, much less hold together a relationship. Frankie’s in serious debt to his dad’s old mob associates. Buddy has completely withdrawn into himself and inexplicably begun digging a hole in the backyard. To make matters worse, the CIA has come knocking, looking to see if there’s any magic left in the Telemachus clan. And there is: Irene’s son Matty has just had his first out-of-body experience. But he hasn’t told anyone, even though his newfound talent might just be what his family needs to save themselves—if it doesn’t tear them apart in the process.

Harnessing the imaginative powers that have made him a master storyteller, Daryl Gregory delivers a stunning, laugh-out-loud new novel about a family of gifted dreamers and the invisible forces that bind us all.

Giveaway: A Plague of Giants by Kevin Hearne

Kevin Hearne is one of my favorite writers.

In short, if you haven’t read his Iron Druid Chronicles, you should, especially with the short story collection Besieged published this week and the series wrapping up next year.

But later this year in October, Kevin is publishing his first epic fantasy. It is titled A Plague of Giants and has one of the coolest framing devices I’ve read — a bard who can tell an entire tale from different points of view by changing into those people. I already highly recommend it.

Kevin will be stopping by The Signed Page to sign copies of A Plague of Giants in October and I have posted the pre-order page live for it. And in addition, I have decided to do two giveaways!

One takes place here! As you can see in the picture above, I have two very different copies of A Plague of Giants. The first and larger one is a galley proof, which is super rare and only sent out to blurbing authors. The second is the smaller Advance Reader Copy, which goes out to authors as well as book critics and reviewers.

Today, below, you can enter to win the galley! Just fill out the information below and you’ll be entered.

  • Open to worldwide entries.
  • You can only enter once. Multiple entries will be disqualified.
  • Winner will be announced August 1st

The second giveaway for the ARC is on The Signed Page Facebook page!

Also, be sure to hardcover pre-order A Plague of Giants now!

Beware the giants!

The $14 Sale Begins Today!

I am a busy man. As many of you know, I not only run The Signed Page but I also own Grim Oak Press, the SF&F small press. They go hand-in-hand for many of you and I do indeed operate both of them out of my home.

It has been a busy 2017 so far but the year is about to get a whole lot busier. I have two and potentially three massive signings coming up in October via The Signed Page. And with Grim Oak Press, I have 1000 copies of The Sword of Shannara Limited Edition shipping to me in early August, 500 copies of Jim Butcher’s Shadowed Souls anthology shipping to me in September, and 500 copies of Peter Orullian’s The Unremembered coming in October if not earlier. In short, my garage is going to be overflowing with new books — books that need space to live.

That means I will be offering some sales on Grim Oak Press to move some of the books already on-hand. But that also means I have to do the same on The Signed Page.

I have discounted a number of titles to the sale price of $14. Just to move them and make room! Some of them only have a few copies while others I have more than a dozen.

One side note: The villains anthology Evil Is a Matter of Perspective — which I contributed a short story to — just arrived in and they did so with minor damage. It’s a great anthology though so I thought I’d offer the book at the sale discount as well despite being a new title.

Hope you take advantage!
