About Those Hounded Comic Books

Hi Everyone,

It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce the Hounded comic book set #1-3 signed by Kevin Hearne will not become reality.

That isn’t entirely true but it sure feels like it. I have issues 1-2. Many of them have some damage due to really poor packaging from the comic book publisher that produced these. I wrote them about it; they never responded. When they didn’t respond and issue #3 wasn’t out yet, I knew something was up. This is what Kevin Hearne had to say about the situation on his new newsletter:

With great regret, I had to cancel the Iron Druid comic books after issue #2. Why? Because issue #3 was like five months late and…never coming. They were a year out of contract, basically, so I pulled the plug. They didn’t hold up their end of things and I’m bummed we won’t see them finish up but I didn’t think I would see them finish it anyway. So no more spiffy comics, alas. I hope you enjoyed the first two issues—I did! It’s a great medium for the stories. Perhaps we’ll find someone to do them justice later on. In the meantime: I love fan art and often share it!

As you can see, issue #3 will not happen, thereby not completing the set that I put up for pre-order. I just got off the phone with Kevin, a discussion about how best to proceed for all of you who have waited so patiently. I could just refund everyone and be done with it. But I have issues #1-2 here and I hate seeing books or comic books wasted. Here is what we will do. I will ship these comic books to Kevin for signing. He will sign and return them — along with some cool additional swag as an offering to the gods since issue #3 isn’t present.

When you receive your order and if you aren’t happy enough with it, I will give you a refund. Just write me then and I’ll make it happen. I’m more than happy to do it. I just want these comic books in my home to go to their proper homes where they will be loved and cherished.

Sorry we couldn’t do better on this one! But sadly, all of it was out of our hands.

In other news, I will be hosting Kevin and Delilah Dawson for a double-signing of their new book, No Country For Old Gnomes in April! That one will happen! Ha! You can pre-order that book now. The sooner the better to help me with book ordering!

Best Wishes,

Shawn Speakman

Update: Red Rising #4-6 Signed By Pierce Brown

A quick update!

I asked Pierce Brown last week about the comic books he has for Red Rising: Sons of Ares #4-6. He shared with me that he had finished signing but that he was finding it difficult getting the comic books down to the post office since he’s been writing so much lately.

In short, I still don’t know when Pierce will get the comic books posted back to me. I hope soon. I’d love to fulfill all of your orders! When the comic books do arrive, I will post an update here the moment they do and begin shipping them out immediately.

Bloodydamn, can’t wait to get them!

New Signing: Red Rising: Sons of Ares by Pierce Brown

Pierce Brown returns to The Signed Page!

But in a way that you probably aren’t expecting. Sure, Iron Gold will publish in January 2018 and I’m sure Pierce will be signing hardcover copies of that sequel to Morning Star, but first we get a prequel!

Yes, a prequel! In comic book format. From the talented people at Dynamite. Pierce decided to develop and co-write a story that takes place before his first novel, Red Rising, focusing on the Sons of Ares. And he is signing each issue of the six-issue series as they are released monthly.

What is this all about? Here are more details:

(W) Pierce Brown, Rik Hoskin (A) Eli Powell (CA) Toby Cypress

From the world of the best-selling YA series Red Rising comes a story of love and loss and rage! In the future, when mankind has spread across the stars, the hierarchy of man is dictated by the color of one’s caste. The Golds rule all, but what will happen when one falls for a lowly Red? See how a forbidden love will set the course of events for the future and lead to the formation of the formidable Sons of Ares! Written by author Pierce Brown (The Red Rising Trilogy) and Rik Hoskin (Heroes of Skyrealm, Brandon Sanderson’s White Sand), with art by Eli Powell (Yakuza Demon Killers, The 13th Artifact), comes the in-continuity story of revolution and Red Rising!

Note: Red Rising: Sons of Ares is a six-issue comic book series co-written by Pierce Brown. He is signing all six issues for The Signed Page. The ones available in this pre-order are issues #1-3. #4-6 will go live when issue #4’s cover is revealed.
