Two New Books & New Payment Gateway

Happy July, Everyone,

I can’t believe we have entered summer. Even stranger that we are all still secluded and must read to stay sane!

I have two new books to announce as well as a new addition to The Signed Page. The last I will talk about first. Since 2001, The Signed Page has relied on PayPal for the bulk of its sales. Sometimes an odd money order comes in through the mail but PayPal has been used for everything else. That has changed in recent weeks. I added a new secure gateway where customers can use their credit card directly on the site. It has worked out well so far but I thought I’d better make you all aware of it!

Second, the two books. The Trouble with Peace by Joe Abercrombie and Small Magic by Terry Brooks. The Trouble with Peace is the sequel to A Little Hatred. The books will be signed like the first book: on a signature page bound into the book. At least they will match, which will be great. Pre-order now because I am only going to order an amount that is needed for my customers. Copies of the book will be signed and come into The Signed Page sometime in September.

Small Magic by Terry Brooks will publish March 2021, so a ways off. But since Del Rey sent out an email with the book’s announcement and more information on it, I’ve been inundated with emails from people asking if Small Magic would be available on The Signed Page. It is and you can order it now. Small Magic features almost every piece of short fiction that Terry has written until this year. The only thing missing is the short short short story featuring Walker and the Shade of Allanon that can be found in the anthology Unfettered. Terry will sign the pre-ordered copies of Small Magic in March. Only 100 personalizations available, FYI.

Hope everyone had a safe Fourth of July in the United States and a great weekend elsewhere around the world!

With Magic,

New Signings: Terry Brooks & Robin Hobb

It is 2020! And the New Year starts off with Druid magic and an assassin’s life!

I will start with The Last Druid by Terry Brooks. This book is the culmination of over 40 years of Shannara! It concludes The Fall of Shannara series, which is also the chronological end of one of the most beloved fantasy epics of all time. Terry will personalize 100 copies of The Last Druid, and he will sign many more on top of that. The book publishes June 2, 2020 and I’m hoping to have Terry sign early so I can ship books out close to release date. Pre-order your signed copy of The Last Druid HERE.

The Signed Page also still has some signed copies of The Skaar Invasion, Book 2 of The Fall of Shannara. Add a copy to your pre-order receipt for The Last Druid!

Now to Robin Hobb, one of my favorite people and a fantastic author. Del Rey Books created The Illustrated Assassin’s Apprentice last year, the first book in her Farseer series. Now the publisher is producing a beautiful edition of the second book in the series—The Illustrated Royal Assassin! Robin will also be personalizing only 100 copies but she will be signing many more. You can pre-order your signed copy of The Illustrated Royal Assasin HERE.

Like The Skaar Invasion, I have a few signed copies left of The Illustrated Assassin’s Apprentice! Add a copy to your pre-order receipt for The Illustrated Royal Assassin!

And one last piece of news to share. Peace Talks by Jim Butcher is publishing this summer. The new Dresden Files novel is one of the biggest releases of the year. The Signed Page has requested Jim stop by to sign copies. I should know more about that by the end of April. But Ace is doing something really cool to celebrate 20 years of Dresden. They are producing a comic con exclusive hardcover edition of Storm Front, the first book in the series! These will only be available at conventions apparently.

But the fine folks at Ace are giving The Signed Page 50 copies outside of the convention circuit, which Jim will sign at Emerald City Comic Con in March! Since I could easily sell 1000 of these, I’m making this fair for everyone. On January 13th, I will accept entries via a contact form for people who are interested in buying this special edition of Storm Front. No idea what the price will be because I need to find out how much Ace will be selling them to me for. Be looking to enter to buy the book in one week!

Here’s to a great 2020! More magic coming! Thank you all for continuing to support The Signed Page!

New Signing: Stranger Things & Gwenda Bond

Happy Friday, All,

Sometimes a signing just falls into place, organically without much effort on my part.

That happened this morning. As I’ve said elsewhere, I am attending Emerald City Comic Con in March in support of Unfettered III. While there, I’ll see a lot of authors I know and will get to meet many I haven’t met yet. One of the latter is Gwenda Bond, an author who has had a great career so far and it’s only getting better with every year that passes. So much so that Del Rey Books wanted her on one of its most important books of 2019–Stranger Things: Suspicious Minds, the first official novel set in the Stranger Things universe!

Here are details about the book and how it fits in with the blockbuster TV series!

A mysterious lab. A sinister scientist. A secret history. If you think you know the truth behind Eleven’s mother, prepare to have your mind turned Upside Down in this thrilling prequel to the hit show Stranger Things.

It’s the summer of 1969, and the shock of conflict reverberates through the youth of America, both at home and abroad. As a student at a quiet college campus in the heartland of Indiana, Terry Ives couldn’t be farther from the front lines of Vietnam or the incendiary protests in Washington.

But the world is changing, and Terry isn’t content to watch from the sidelines. When word gets around about an important government experiment in the small town of Hawkins, she signs on as a test subject for the project, code-named MKULTRA. Unmarked vans, a remote lab deep in the woods, mind-altering substances administered by tight-lipped researchers . . . and a mystery the young and restless Terry is determined to uncover.

But behind the walls of Hawkins National Laboratory—and the piercing gaze of its director, Dr. Martin Brenner—lurks a conspiracy greater than Terry could have ever imagined. To face it, she’ll need the help of her fellow test subjects, including one so mysterious the world doesn’t know she exists—a young girl with unexplainable superhuman powers and a number instead of a name: 008.

Amid the rising tensions of the new decade, Terry Ives and Martin Brenner have begun a different kind of war—one where the human mind is the battlefield.

Pre-Order STRANGER THINGS: SUSPICIOUS MINDS signed by Gwenda Bond! She will sign these copies at Emerald City Comic Con in March and the books will ship then! If you are a fan of the TV show, this is the perfect book for you!

Back to work for me! Have a great weekend!
