I hope this New Year has started well for you! And that you’ve already read several books!
Today, I am announcing the first signings for 2019! I have a solid ten signed titles that I’ll be offering as the year progresses. But to start, I thought I’d begin with the first set that publish in the next few months. These are powerhouse titles by powerhouse authors. I’m excited about every one of these for very different reasons:
I always applaud an author trying something new, which is a theme for many of the books that I’ll have on The Signed Page this year. When Salvatore released the news that he’d be returning to the world of Corona, I was happy. But he’s managed to create a powerful story, one of a witch trying to change the course of her world. Child of a Mad God began it but this one ramps it all up in unexpected ways! Salvatore will only be signing 48 of these.
This is the very definition of epic book! First it is a book featuring art based on the unbelievably rich world of J.R.R. Tolkien. Second, that art is done by Donato, one of the foremost Tolkien artists and just an awesome artist anyway. And three, those of you who know my work on Grim Oak Press know I love hiring Donato for our books too. So a Tolkien book signed by Donato? Gold! And it’s also an oversized book at 10″ x 14″ that can be put out on a coffee table with pride or on one’s shelves! This is a super rare signing since Donato isn’t touring for it–in fact, I’m visiting him in NYC to make this happen!
Pre-order now and your book will be embossed with a Kings of Gondor logo!
One of my favorite books last year was Kill the Farmboy, an irreverant, trope-killing hilarious book on par with the work of Terry Pratchett and Piers Anthony. Now Dawson and Hearne return for its sequel, No Country For Old Gnomes! A gorgeous cover, more laughs, and more goats. Or something. this book will be double-signed by the two! Need to laugh these days? This is the way to do it!
There you go! Pre-order now! Remember if you order books together and you are an international customer, those books will ship together. If you have any questions, feel free to write in and ask me. I’m always around.
Case in point, the signing for Child of Mad God by R. A. Salvatore.
Bob and I were to get together at Emerald City Comic Con. We did that a couple of times. But for whatever reason, the publisher of the book did not mail the books correctly. When I paid overnight shipping for them to arrive the Monday before ECCC was to start, they arrived 12 days later. In short, Bob didn’t sign books because I did not have them.
I suspect they were late for one reason and one reason only: the book went to a second printing. When I placed my order, there were 1st printings in the warehouse that quickly went to other people, leaving The Signed Page with no books. Then it took the publisher a week to get that next printing back into their warehouse and the copies shipped. That doens’t help me, obviously. I have orders for signed copies of Child of a Mad God and not only do I not have Bob Salvatore here to sign but the books are 2nd printings.
I realize some of you don’t care about the printing. But for some, it matters. If you’d like a refund for your order, just let me know via the Contact page and I’ll make it happen.
For the rest of you, I am seeing Bob in mid-May at Get Lit at the Beach. So I can get books signed then.
R. A. Salvatore is attending the 2018 Emerald City Comic Con in a few weeks.
And The Signed Page will be there, with 100 books for him to sign and/or personalize, just for you! This is a rare signing and I’m excited to have Mr. Salvatore stop by and sign books.
Here are more details about Child of a Mad God, a brand new book in a brand new series from one of the best fantasy authors of our time!
From R. A. Salvatore, the legendary creator of Drizzt Do’Urden, comes the start of a brand new epic journey.
When Aoleyn loses her parents, she is left to fend for herself among a tribe of vicious barbarians. Bound by rigid traditions, she dreams of escaping to the world beyond her mountain home.
The only hope for achieving the kind of freedom she searches for is to learn how to wield the mysterious power used by the tribe’s coven known as the Song of Usgar. Thankfully, Aoleyn may be the strongest witch to have ever lived, but magic comes at price. Not only has her abilities caught the eye of the brutish warlord that leads the tribe, but the demon of the mountain hunts all who wield the Coven’s power, and Aoleyn’s talent has made her a beacon in the night.
